The folding technique comes from the japanese folding art of Origami. The type of folding is a tessellation. This is built up over several levels, so that the layers in the play of light and shadow allow geometric figures such as arrows and squares to emerge. According to the tradition of Origami, the multi-layer structure (without cutting or gluing) was formed from only 1 sheet .

The Thinker (A. Rodin), Origami art, Origami sculpture, folded freom 1 piece of paper.

This Origami sculpture was inspired by The Thinker from Auguste Rodin and transformed into Origami Paper Art. by Neal Elias. A wonderful example of the japanese folding art Origami. According to its tradition the paper sculpture was build without glueing or cutting the paper. It was folded from just one piece of paper. To fold the statue with marbel surface into paper, he following materials were used to prepare this three-dimensional folding:
Brown wrapping paper, opaque white and brush.
The whole Origami model was folded dry and just from one sheet of paper.

This Origami flower shows the wonderful transformation of a flat twodimensional paper surface into a threedimensional form.
According to the tradition of Japanese folding art without cutting or glueing - called Origami - it is hand-folded from just one sheet of paper. The Blossom was modeled on the Cattleya Orchid.

Origami - a wonderful technique

If you are lucky enough to see how the folds of the basic grid (usually made up of squares or triangles) are added to build up further folding levels
and how the target form is developed from them, you are amazed! The paper has undergone a transformation from 2D to 3D. For this purpose, break points (points at which several folding axes converge) are used similar to hinges, which allow the paper to move into a third dimension. When the paper begins to take shape, you start to understand the universe of shapes and ways of thinking that the door has opened to, simply by using the origami tool.

"Kobold" (/"Goblin"), 3D Origami picture - a hand-painted unique specimen with signature, folded from only 1 piece in approx. 290 folding steps by I. Suer Dark forest green and gold are the favorite colors of goblins. These main colors characterize the hand-painted paper from which the flower of this 3D Origami picture with the name Kobold was folded. In addition, stylish decorations in bronze complement the cheerful glow of the picture to create a harmonious composition.
The background in white-gray marbling brings out the 5 folded layers of leaves of the Origami well and emphasizes the three-dimensionality of this Japanese fold.
